Here is a link to a page on one of our supplier's sites that has a good description of the features and benefits to the different materials that cam and groove couplings are made from:

http://ptcoupling.com/Websites/58/Files/Table%20of%20Contents%20-%20How%20to%20Order.pdf

As far as cost comparisons, the aluminum is almost always the most economical with the polypropylene following closely. The carbon steel takes a step up in price and stainless is usually the most expensive until you start considering high end specialty alloys (i.e. monel, hastelloy, etc.).

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the nylon and polypropylene materials for camlock fittings. Application is low pressure air (10" w.g.) and vacuum (5" w.g.) and an abusive industrial environement. Any cost advantages to nylon and polypropylene over AL, CS, SS?

All that we would have in a 6" dust cap would be aluminum brass or stainless steel. Can you use any of those for your application?

We can definitely help you with that. The first thing we need to know is what brand the 8" camlock fitting is.

All the different brands interchange up to 6", but when you get to 8" there are different styles. We can get them for you no matter what, but we need the brand before we can give you price and availability.
